Hacks often use timeskips because they can't do character development. I don't really consider 2 months a time skip considering the nature of serialization and how, for example, a tv series will usually progress in real time so there's always a week long skip between episodes. Minoru Furuya does a good job of not skipping anything important but progressing things around a bit so that it doesn't eat up page space. 40 chapters woo-hoo.
