And that's a wrap. Yes, only 3 chapters total😂 Don't worry though, this last chapter is 100 pages of story and an afterword. All in all it's a full volume work, it's just weirdly divided in only 3 chapters, but once you read it you'll understand why it was split into three parts. I like it when people mess with structure anyway.
What can I say about Nonamour, this was one of my favorite stuff we've worked on so far, it gave me massive Wong Kar Wai vibes and that's one of the highest compliments I can give to something.
Anyway, here we go
All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray
There are so many moments and pages in this mango that I absolutely adore, for example the last panel on page 121 (numbered 122 at the bottom) is amazing, it encapsulates so much about the series but also works so well without context. Despite being so emotionally charges, I had no problem going over the pages multiple times for qc which is kinda weird, but finishing it energized me (for a bit, I'm in a slump again now) because it made me say "that's why I read manga". I've often said that I like Helter Skelter best from Okazaki but some days I feel guilty about saying that because Pink was just too good. I don't know how I'd rank these three, but I know that I love them very very much and her endings are always perfect. I'm feeling pretty ill right now so I'm not gonna say much more but these two Okazaki works we've done use two core concepts I'm very fond of, a story about "Someone that wants to love and be loved, but is incapable of neither." is the kind of story I really want to read or watch.
Pararara pararara pararara
Looking from a window above, it's like a story of love
Fantastic work, as usual.
ReplyDeleteYour translation of Tokyo Girls Bravo was the first I'd heard of Okazaki Kyoko. Since then I've devoured the rest of her works available in English. Pink is my favorite, I love the absurdity of it. It's a tough call between this and Helter Skelter for my second favorite, though. I think HS is better written, but I enjoyed the theme of Nonamour more.
Do you plan to translate more Okazaki? I'd love to read more of her work.
I'm really happy to know I helped someone find such an outstanding mangaka. As for more Okazaki, not for a while but... yes, we'll be doing some more from her in the future.
DeleteGlad to hear it. I'm sure I'll enjoy whatever you do next. You guys are my favorite scanners. You've introduced me to more than one mangaka I don't know Ithat I would have stumbled upon otherwise.
DeleteAww ^_^
DeleteI'm so happy to hear we introduced you to some fantastic mangaka, that's one of the best things a scanlation group can do.
This is some good stuff. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a strange relationship between the 3 to the say the least hehe. I really wish we hade got more of takao's point of view on his sister's feelings though. He seems to be the most intriguing character to me personally. He seems to be uninterested in loving anyone? Is he devoid of human emotions I guess aha
Also sorry to hear you're not feeling well. Get well soon!!! <3
DeleteTakao's really unhinged, but he strikes me as the kind of person that doesn't really think much about things before doing them. There are people that overanalyze stuff in their head and there are people that mostly work on instinct and he strikes me as the latter, he says whatever he's thinking. He did love Momoe and that relationship really scarred him.
DeleteYooo takao humping his gf in second grade? 😂 Boy's got game. What a stud.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he'd say "I must confess, I was born at a very early age."
DeleteI think it's absolutely hilarious that Santa said "But even if I'm naive, it doesn't prevent me from making the link between Sakurada's (the sister) jealousy and the tampered brakes of Momoe Yamaguchi's car." because it definitely didn't occur to me. I am dumber than this boy ffs!
ReplyDeleteUgh, what a fascinatingly cool ending. Thanks for sharing <<3
Haha, maybe you initially thought Momoe was bullshitting about the accident. Glad you enjoyed ^_^
DeleteLovely Christmas gift thank you love u fam
ReplyDeleteWell, it you can consider it an early Christmas gift ^_^. Our latest release wasn't ready for Christmas (entirely my fault) but expect it in 2023.
DeleteThank you very much for all the scanlations of Okazaki's Manga and for all of your work!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a pleasure and a privilege.
